4 fabulous fundraising ideas for White Balloon Day!

White Balloon Day is the largest campaign in Australia dedicated to preventing child sexual assault. Help Bravehearts spread awareness this White Balloon Day by organising a fundraiser that showcases your creativity.

Here are 4 fabulous fundraising ideas to create awareness and raise funds this White Balloon Day.

1. An all-girls pampering evening

Set up an evening of pampering for this year’s White Balloon Day! Why not organise a movie marathon of chick flicks with pizza, ice-cream, chocolates and a bucket load of popcorn? You could organise a DIY beauty evening, with pedicures, manicures, hair treatments, hands-on beauty tips and tricks that you and your friends can share. Mix it up with snacks and nibbles that don’t destroy your manicure or beauty treatment! How does this help you raise funds? Easy! Decide on an amount that everyone attending is happy to donate and donate this to Bravehearts! Make your fundraiser even bigger by organising this with a massage parlour for a spa day and book appointments for you and your friends with a percentage of the cost being donated.

2. Bonfire and marshmallows

Roasting marshmallows while also raising funds for White Balloon Day – sounds great, right?! Imagine an evening sitting around a bonfire in your backyard or a campfire with your friends, family, colleagues or club members sharing good food and supporting a good cause. Ensure that you have the necessary legal permit to light a bonfire/ campfire in your area. You could include games and stories or songs around the fire!

3. Bowling competition

Team up with your friends, family and/or colleagues for a bowling tournament that will really get that ball rolling towards your fundraising goal! Invite everyone you know and ask them to invite their friends along too and head to a local bowling alley to kick off your event! You could ask for a gold coin donation on the day or for a team entry fee that can be donated. You might also consider asking the bowling venue to make a donation towards your fundraiser. This is a fantastic way to have a great time with some healthy competition and raise funds for a cause that you support.

4. Fun day for students and friends

Many schools and childcare centres plan to do a fun day for students but what kind of ‘fun’ activities can you do?! Why not consider hosting a chalk art competition in your school! This year Bravehearts is encouraging schools and child care centres nationwide to participate in our Chalk Art Project, which is not only eco-friendly but also an engaging activity for children to be a part of. The chalk art entries can be submitted via WhiteBalloonDay.com.au to go into the running for some fantastic prizes. Other ideas could include an egg-and-spoon-race, a relay race, a charades competition or a simple ‘wear white’ day.

These are examples to inspire you. Some of them have been tried and tested by our fundraisers in the past. However, any idea to host a fundraiser is encouraged! Feel free to share your ideas with us and show us how it’s done!
